Our Varieties

Three Varieties. Built for Britain.

Grain, fibre, or dual-purpose — every UK farm need covered. All powered by Stackatrait™ precision breeding technology, designed for guaranteed compliance and enhanced performance.

Hemp Variety Quick Facts

What are the best hemp varieties for UK farmers?

Precision Plants offers three precision-bred hemp varieties optimised for UK growing conditions: BritGrain Auto™ (grain, 1.8–2.4 t/ha, 90–110 days), LongLine Fibre™ (fibre, 8–12 t/ha dry stem, 120–140 days), and YieldMax Duo™ (dual-purpose grain and fibre). All three varieties are being developed to be genetically incapable of exceeding legal THC limits, designed to guarantee 100% compliance. Currently in laboratory development with commercial launch targeted for 2032.

Every variety is being developed using Stackatrait™ precision breeding technology, which stacks five trait categories — Cannabinoid Modification, Seed Yield & Oil, Fibre Quality, Root & Carbon, and Climate Resilience — into a single elite variety. All three varieties are currently in the laboratory development stage, with field trials planned as part of our path to commercialisation. — Precision Plants R&D Programme 2024–25

Stackatrait™ Technology

Every Variety Powered by Stackatrait™

Our proprietary precision breeding platform stacks multiple beneficial traits into each variety. Stackatrait™ combines five trait categories — Cannabinoid Modification, Seed Yield & Oil, Fibre Quality, Root & Carbon, and Climate Resilience — all in one elite variety.

Cannabinoid Modification

Precision-engineered THC elimination. Genetically incapable of producing THC above 0.01%. Zero crop destruction risk.

Seed Yield & Oil

Enhanced seed size, increased seeds per plant, improved harvest capture, and premium oil quality for food and health markets.

Fibre Quality

Enhanced bast content, improved tensile strength, higher cellulose purity, and faster retting for premium textile and construction applications.

Root & Carbon

Deep root architecture for drought resilience and enhanced carbon sequestration. Unlocks carbon credit revenue streams.

Climate Resilience

Cold-tolerant germination, lodging resistance, disease resistance, and predictable maturity across UK latitudes and growing seasons.

Hemp vs Traditional UK Crops

Why Hemp Outperforms Conventional Arable Crops

UK arable farming faces declining margins. DEFRA data shows average wheat net margins of just £80/ha in 2024. Precision Plants varieties offer 15-50x higher gross margins with zero pesticide requirements and positive soil health impacts.

Key Features

Maximum Fibre Production

8-12 t/ha of high-quality straw with 30-35% bast fibre content. Produces 2.4-3.5 t/ha extracted bast fibre and 1.2-1.8 t/ha textile-grade long fibre — up to 80-100% more than current varieties.

Enhanced Fibre Quality

500-720 MPa tensile strength (30% above baseline) through precision fibre quality modification. Cellulose content increased to 70-78% for stronger, more processable fibre suitable for premium textile and composite applications.

50% Faster Retting

Precision fibre quality modifications reduce field retting from 3-6 weeks to 2-3 weeks. Critical advantage in the UK's damp autumn conditions where slow retting degrades fibre quality.

Lodging Resistance

Climate resilience modifications increase stem strength and optimise structural integrity. Prevents 5-15% yield loss from lodging in exposed UK fields, enabling reliable harvests.

Key Features

Optimised Dual Harvest Architecture

Balanced 2.0-2.5m plant structure supports grain weight while providing quality fibre. Compact grain heads for efficient combine harvest with moderate branching for fibre quality.

Sequential Harvest Flexibility

Grain matures first while fibre quality is maintained post-grain harvest. Choose sequential (grain then fibre), grain-only, or simultaneous harvest to match market conditions.

Carbon Credit Revenue Stream

Enhanced root biomass sequesters 15-28 t CO₂/ha total. Root carbon deposition of 0.12-0.15 t C per tonne harvested. Future carbon credits worth £400-1,500/ha at current voluntary market prices.

Maximum Risk Mitigation

Dual revenue streams from grain and fibre markets. If one market disappoints, the other provides backup. Carbon credits add a third income layer as markets mature.
